Was Columbus an alcoholic?

Certain historians offer the following proof that Christopher Columbus was, in fact, an alcoholic.

• He went off without knowing where he was headed.
  
• When he got there, he didn't know where he was.
• When he got home he had no idea where he had been.
  

And to top it off............... he got a woman to pay for it all.
